    What is good for kids with a rash?

    Both the Healing Salve and Baby Balm are commonly used for rashes caused by irritation, dryness, heat, or friction. For newborns or very sensitive skin, Baby Balm is often preferred.  

    What is good for diaper rash?

    Baby Balm was originally created for diaper rash and newborn skin. It’s CBD-free, essential-oil-free, and made with 15 nutrient-rich botanicals.

    What is good for acne?

    For acne-prone skin, we recommend the following routine, in order of benefit:

    • Vitamin C Serum  
    • Honey Face Scrub  
    • Coconut Milk Cleanser  
    • Toner

    This routine supports inflammation reduction, gentle exfoliation, barrier repair, and hydration. We treat acne as a wet condition, not a dry one. Many acne treatments focus on drying the skin, but over-drying can actually trigger the skin to produce more oil, which may worsen breakouts. Using the right non-comedogenic plant oils and topical CBD helps calm inflammation, support the skin barrier, and signal to the skin that it is nourished — which can help regulate oil production rather than overstimulate it.

    What is good for rosacea?

    The Vitamin C Serum is most commonly used for rosacea-prone skin due to its calming, anti-inflammatory, and barrier-supportive properties.  

  • Psoriasis and Scalp Care

    What is good for scalp psoriasis?

    Many customers use the Vitamin C Serum on the scalp to help calm inflammation and support skin balance. It can be used as a mask applied the night before washing.

    What is good for psoriasis?

    For psoriasis-prone skin, customers typically choose either the Healing Salve or Extra Strength Healing Salve, depending on the level of discomfort and inflammation.

    What is best for pain?

    The Extra Strength Healing Salve is our most commonly used product for sore muscles, joint discomfort, and localized pain.

    What is good for cradle cap?

    Many families use Baby Balm for cradle cap to gently soften flakes and support the scalp without irritation.  

    What is good for bug bites?

    Both Healing Salve and Baby Balm are commonly used to help calm redness, itching, and irritation from bug bites.

    What is good for sunburn or minor burns?

    Customers often use Healing Salve to support irritated, sun-exposed skin and help reduce dryness and discomfort.

    What is good for cuts, scrapes, or minor skin irritation?

    The Healing Salve is frequently used on minor skin irritation to help support the skin’s natural healing process.

    Is CBD skincare safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

    There’s ongoing debate and limited research around CBD use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. What we can confidently say is that Mama’s Medicinals products are used topically and do not enter the bloodstream the way oral CBD does. Our formulas are made with gentle, organic, and traditionally used botanicals that many nursing mothers feel comfortable using. However, every body is different. We always recommend consulting your healthcare provider before use.

    Will I fail a drug test with CBD skincare?

    No. Topical CBD will not make you fail a drug test. Our CBD products are applied to the skin and do not enter the bloodstream in significant amounts the way ingested CBD does.

    Is CBD skincare safe for kids?

    Mama’s Medicinals was created because of our Healing Salve, which I originally made to help soothe my daughter’s eczema. Many parents, including myself, have used it on children with great results. We always recommend consulting your healthcare provider and doing a patch test before regular use.

    Is Healing Salve safe for kids?

    This is one of the most common questions we receive. I’ve personally used Healing Salve on my own children, but CBD use is a personal decision. Because Healing Salve is used topically and not ingested, it does not enter the bloodstream the way oral CBD does. We recommend consulting your healthcare provider and starting with a patch test.

    What age can children use the Healing Salve?

    There is no official age guideline for topical CBD products. Some parents choose to use it on young children, while others prefer to wait. For families who prefer a non-CBD option, Baby Balm was created specifically for babies and very sensitive skin.

    Does topical CBD enter the bloodstream?

    Topical CBD works on the surface layers of the skin and interacts with local cannabinoid receptors. It does not enter the bloodstream the way ingestible CBD does.

    Should I do a patch test before using it on my child?

    Yes. Always perform a patch test before using any new product on a child. Apply a small amount to a patch of skin and wait 24 hours to check for sensitivity.

    What does CBD do for skin?

    CBD is rich in anti-inflammatory compounds, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids that help calm irritated skin, reduce redness and itching, support acne-prone skin, strengthen the skin barrier, and support recovery from environmental stress and sun exposure.

    What is nano CBD?

    Nano CBD is a water-soluble form of CBD designed for enhanced absorption. Using sound-wave technology, CBD particles are broken down into microscopic sizes, allowing them to penetrate the skin more efficiently. Nano CBD can provide faster, more targeted topical relief compared to traditional CBD oil.

    How is the Healing Salve made?

    We infuse organic olive oil with anti-inflammatory herbs for six weeks before making the salve. This slow infusion process preserves the potency of the plants and has remained unchanged for over 17 years.

    What ingredients are in the Healing Salve?

    Our Healing Salve contains:

    • 8 anti-inflammatory herbs
    • 5 botanical oils known for their skin-supportive properties
    • Organic, non-toxic, non-comedogenic ingredients

    There are no fillers, shortcuts, or reformulations.

    Is the Healing Salve better than steroid creams?

    We can’t compare or replace medical treatments. What I can share is my personal experience. I wasn’t comfortable with long-term steroid cream use on my child, which is what led me to create a botanical alternative. Every family’s situation is different, and we encourage working with your healthcare provider.

    What’s the difference between Healing Salve and Baby Balm?
    • Healing Salve contains topical CBD and a very small amount of essential oils

    Yes. While Baby Balm was originally made for diaper rash and newborn skin, many families use it for eczema, cradle cap, baby acne, and general skin irritation.

    Is the Healing Salve scented?

    Healing Salve has a very light natural scent from a traditional botanical blend known as Thieves Oil. It is used at well under 0.1% of the total formula, which is significantly lower than typical essential oil products and gentle enough for sensitive and eczema-prone skin.

    What about CBD taken internally for kids?

    Internal CBD use is very different from topical skincare, especially for children. We do not provide guidance on internal CBD use for kids. For educational information, some parents choose to research through nonprofit organizations like Project CBD, which shares research and expert perspectives.
